Costa Vida Mexican Grill has a menu very similar to that of Cafe Rio (A favorite here in Utah). However the food at Costa Vida is unfortunately not even comparable to that of Cafe Rio. Even so I haven’t “minded” Costa Vida, that is until last night when I visited their location in Downtown Ogden.
Typically I’ll order a chicken burrito or a chicken salad — last night I opted for the salad. The thing about these Mexican grill places is that the food is rather expensive (My salad was almost $9). Considering, my expectations on taste are rather high. Unfortunately however, this $9 chicken salad was the blandest thing I’ve ever tasted. The chicken had absolutely no flavor.
I would have returned it, but I ordered it to go and wasn’t about to drive 10 minutes back to the restaurant. I realize these things can happen, but at the same time, if your going to charge a premium for your food then you should ensure your meat tastes good before selling it your customers. Hopefully my next experience with Costa Vida will be better.
